The phone number is 253-5006. Empowerment Group An empowerment group for battered women meets weekly at Hope Harbor Home. Empowerment sessions help our clients address issues of violence against women, women's roles in society, and women advocating for them. Individual sessions may also be scheduled. Child care is provided. Sexual Assault Group This is a support group for women who have been raped or sexually assaulted, and for women who are, or have been, victims of incest. In the group setting, women are encouraged to express their hurt, anger, sadness and depression resulting from the assaults on them. They learn that rape, sexual assault and incest are crimes and that it is never their fault. They learn to experience healing as they pick up the pieces of their lives and become stronger and wiser. In our group sessions, women learn about what happens in the aftermath of rape. Even though the rape may have occurred months or years before, many women wonder why they have not healed. It is difficult to recover from any kind of sexual assault without the guidance of a trained counselor and group members who have had similar experiences.
